'D stools' c

'bundle' collection by london-based designer catherine louise aitkin is a series of seating objects which explore the idea of the
bundle and its form utilized as furniture.

designer's own words:
'as a textile designer I am interested in exploring materials, form and pattern. I like the idea that pattern and the repetition of simple forms
can lead to the development of a 3 dimensional product. with 'bundle' collection, I was interested in creating a joining system
that utilised a hard and soft element, I wanted the hard and soft elements to be equally dependent on each other.
bundle - is loosely inspired by actions of organisation, stacking, rolling and bundling. my goal was to create a range of furniture products,
stools and a bench, that were playful yet functional - that retained an openness. I was looking to produce forms that could be gently manipulated,
that quietly encouraged interaction. bundle uses maple dowel, merino felt and waterborn (by kvadrat). these fabrics were perfect as
I wanted something that could have a clean cut unfinished edge
.'

the 'bundle' collection is exhibited as part of the RCA's graduate show, kensington gore, london from june 24th to july 3rd, 2011.
